Path to Nirvana Question

After reading the Buddha sayings about the blind man questioning the existence of color, I started thinking if everyone's experiences are so different, does that mean everyone has their own path to Nirvana?   ~Lily

This is a great question because it concerns the path to enlightenment, which is every Buddhist's goal. According to the Buddha, he teaches everyone the same truth, but the means may be different according to each person's own capacity. In the same way each's own capacity will mold and shape their path to Nirvana. Think of it like a trip from NY to California, there are many routes you can take, but all routes mean crossing great distances, over land, water, mountains and oceans. Some will take the longer more scenic route, while others pursue the most expedient. But there are things that all are required to master to reach Enlightenment / Nirvana and that is Compassion, Meditation and Wisdom, which is gained through understanding of the Four Noble Truths and the living according to he Eightfold Noble Path. ~Tony

Thank you for the clear answer. Our paths may be different, but compassion is what unites us and helps us to understand our separate journeys.
